If you eat an apple a day it can help you many ways to stay healthy.  If you feel hungry and find yourself staring into the refrigerator, then reach for an apple to give yourself a healthy snack. That old saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” does have some serious merit. Apples have a high content of fiber which is the key ingredient for suppressing your appetite. Apples also contain pectin which helps keep your blood sugar level in check along with flushing out gunk in your intestines. Packed with fiber and antioxidants, apples help your body fight diseases. Try and eat an apple a day and stay healthy, all while keeping your appetite in check.

6)  Tea

Mint and green teas are known for lots of health benefits.  The detoxifying power of green tea is unmatched in the health food world.  Tea is an excellent alternative to those people who are looking for a little pick me up from caffeine without getting too jittery from traditional coffee.  Studies suggest that green tea can even help you target belly fat specifically for a tailor made diet aid. They are excellent appetite suppressants too in addition to having some mystical healing properties.  This can be felt by the overwhelming sense of calmness that tea can deliver to someone who may be feeling a little jittery either from lack of sleep, or poor diet choices. The caffeine and catechins contained in green teas help slow down our blood sugar spikes and boost the metabolism.

A good dieting strategy is if you had a day where you eat a lot of foods that are high in unhealthy fats and calories, then the day after, try to do a fast and only consume a healthy amount of green tea and water throughout the day to help cleanse your system.

7)  Seeds
Flaxseeds and linseed oilSome seeds are a great source of omega-3s, fiber, and protein, and are well-known to be a weight loss aid. Chia seeds and Flaxseeds right now are in huge demand because of their hunger suppressing ingredients as well as a few weight loss properties.

Soaking chia seeds in water or juice is great for cleaning out your intestinal line, and makes for a great natural laxative.  Let the seeds soak for at least two hours and then consume.  Chia seeds are rich in soluble fiber that can help suppress hunger effectively. If you want to have this concoction cold, leave the container in the refrigerator over night and drink for a cleaning breakfast. One amazing and simple recipe I discovered is to have soaked chia seeds with blueberries, very filling, delicious, and healthy.

Flaxseeds also contain omega-6 fatty acids in addition to omega-3s, which naturally curb appetite.  Flaxseeds are consumed best by soaking them whole (not ground) for at least 8 hours.  If you are in a hurry you can grind them up and then soak them for about a half an hour.
