Green Tea BenefitsThe ancient people believed that green tea is very beneficial when it comes to their health. A lot of people consider drinking tea as an important part of their life. However, some individuals argue that regular drinking of green tea does not ensure prevention of certain disorders.

Studies show that green tea assures cancer survivors of lesser chances of cancer recurrence. Aside from that, a medical study conducted in China revealed that the more green tea a person drinks, the lesser the possibility of developing certain disorders.

  • Catechins

    Green teas are rich in antioxidants called catechins. These antioxidants are the reason why ancient people are convinced that green tea is the source of good health and long life. Aside from protecting the plant’s health, catechins also proved to be beneficial for humans. Medical research shows that catechins help stop cellular damage, which in turn prevents the growth of cancer cells.     EGCG and EGC are two of the six types of catechins present in green tea. EGCG is known to be very helpful in treating many disorders. Because of green tea’s production process, it is the only beverage that contains high levels of EGCG.

Dutch study showed that drinking caffeinated green tea helps in losing more weight, compared to decaffeinated green tea. This resulted in lower blood pressure and lesser bad cholesterol.

This level of L-theanine can be taken by drinking at least 5 cups of green tea. Researchers proved that people who drink more cups of green tea, at least four cups a day, are less likely to get depressed.

  • As a Facial Mask.  After drinking green tea, cut the bag open. Pour the contents into a saucer and add honey. Make it into a paste and apply on clean face as a mask. Rinse the mask off after ten minutes.
  • Quick Facial.  Soak a tea bag in a steamy hot water and pull it out after a few seconds. Squeeze off excess water and gently rub the tea bag on your face until the bag has cooled off.
  • Facial Cleanser.  Soak a green tea in a steamy hot water. Open the tea bag. Pour the ground tea leaves on a saucer and add a small amount of your creamy facial cleanser until it is thick in texture. Apply it on your face and rinse it after five minutes.
  • Facial Wash.  Make a cup of green tea. When it is cooled down, use it as a facial wash by splashing it on your face over and over again. Rinse your face with water.
  • Facial Steam.  Pour green tea ground leaves in a large bowl. Add boiling water. Bend in front of the large bowl and place a towel over your head. Don’t get your face too close to the hot water. This will also relax your nasal cavity.

Green Tea vs. Black Tea and Oolong Tea
Green tea, oolong tea and black tea all come from Camellia sinensis plant, commonly known as the Tea Plant. These three types of teas differ in production process. Green tea is un-oxidized, making it the richest in catechins among the three. Oolong (also called wu long) tea however is semi-oxidized. Oolong is known for effectively healing eczema, allergies and bacterial infections. Like green tea, oolong is also known for fighting against cancer, obesity and cavities. Black tea on the other hand is fully oxidized making it contain three times more caffeine than green tea. Aside from that, black tea has much lesser catechins. However, black tea has more thearubigins and theaflavins level. These antioxidants are also powerful and have the ability to fight against cancer, including leukemia.
